Hi Netflix folks!

I'd love to work with you :)

I made this site to share some thoughts that don't fit into a resume. We're all busy, so I'll keep it brief!

The main reason is the culture memo.

I first read a version of the culture memo at least 7 years ago and it captivated me, immediately helping me refine my own sense of how I want to operate in relation to the work I do and who I do it with. Working with people who simply love to do great work, and who love supporting their colleagues in that, is something I want to experience. The principles and values in the memo are all things I agree with and want 100%.

I believe I can meaningfully contribute to what you are building (I think I'm qualified skills-wise), and I am also eager to be surrounded by and learn from folks who are continually striving to do their best and who treat each other well along the way.

There are many more things I could say about why the memo speaks to me, but I'll just share this one observation: I think it's because the culture emphasizes a dream team and not a family that people are able to treat each other with decency and respect.

When everyone is aligned on the purpose of being in an organization -- doing great work serving the needs of the organization and its customers -- it allows people to focus on working together toward shared goals, and frees people up from the kinds of interpersonal and group dynamics that can lead to poor behavior. All that stuff just gets in the way.

But that's just my guess. I'd love to find out for myself, and I hope you'll invite me for an initial interview!

Thank you for your consideration,
Daniel Higginbotham

p.s. for better or worse I wrote all of this myself without AI :)
